Home wins for Fortuna and Arminia
At the start of the 6th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga, Fortuna Düsseldorf scored a clear win against Jahn Regensburg on Friday evening (4:0). At the same time, Arminia Bielefeld managed the hoped-for first win of the season against Eintracht Braunschweig in Daniel Scherning’s home premiere (4-1).
In the Rhineland, both opponents had been waiting for a win for three matchdays before kick-off, and the statistics predicted that this would remain the case, as the teams recently drew four times in a row. At the beginning of the game, the guest from Regensburg in particular seemed willing to put an end to the draw series. Within six minutes, Andreas Albers had two good chances to score an early lead with a header and Aygün Yildirim with a low shot. The Fortunes didn’t make much progress at first, but after about a quarter of an hour the hosts took control. However, the hosts only had clear opportunities towards the end of the first 45 minutes. Dawid Kownacki and Felix Klaus missed two good chances quite miserably (30′, 43′), in between Jordy de Wijs headed just over the box (33′).
Overall, the half-time score was okay: Fortuna survived the urge phase of SSV Jahn, then too often missed the last consequence on the ball. After the change of sides, Regensburg initially gained optical advantages again before the Rhinelanders also found access to the game. Unlike in the first half, however, this paid off for Düsseldorf: After winning the ball, things went quickly, and Kownacki finally released strike partner Daniel Ginczek. From a half-right position, he aimed flat right into the near corner and broke the spell (59th). Fortuna then stayed on the trigger and quickly created the chance for the double strike. Leon Guwara put Klaus down with rather impetuous duel behavior, the penalty for the home side was the logical consequence. Kownacki stepped up and scored confidently in the left corner (65th).
The guests were embarrassed about the quick answer that would have been needed. Instead, the home team put the proverbial lid on the game. Klaus muddled through midfield and played on Ginczek. He returned flat to the winger, and Klaus hit the near corner with a technically demanding goal (78′). Now only the amount of the home win was of interest, Shinta Appelkamp scored the 4-0 after Kwadwo Baah broke through seconds after being substituted on the right (85th).
In the end, Fortuna Düsseldorf left the field as a fully deserved winner and jumped to the relegation place at least until Saturday. For Jahn Regensburg after the 0: 6 against Karlsruher SC the next heavy smack is booked.
Bielefeld regulates within 10 minutes
The new head coach Daniel Scherning made his home debut on the Alm on the bench of Arminia Bielefeld against bottom-placed Eintracht Braunschweig. The hope for the first win of the season for the relegated team was high, but was turned into the opposite almost early on: Anthony Ujah should have given the visitors the lead after Immanuel Pherai sent him off steeply. The experienced attacker chased the ball into the evening sky (5th). On the way forward, the DSC initially only saw patchwork, so as is so often the case, a standard had to take care of the chest release. Bastian Oczipka took a corner from the right, Bryan Lasme climbed the highest and put the ball in the net with his head and shoulders (30′). For Braunschweig, the goal definitely had an effect, because the promoted team fell apart for a short time.
The 2:0: After a cross from the left, Lasme headed to the bottom edge of the crossbar, Oliver Hüsing poked several times and steered the artificial leather over the line from a very short distance (36th). Three minutes later, Oczipka brought the ball from a standing start to the far post, where Robin Hack cleverly scored the goal to make it 3-0 (39′). With this triple strike within nine minutes, Arminia put themselves on the road to victory, whereas the guests threatened to get stuck after a good start. The half-time whistle should have been right for the BTSV.
In the second round, the guest indicated that he had not yet completely written off a comeback. Martin Fraisl, who was only signed for the home side’s goal during the week, parried the first top-class goal from Anton Donkor (57th), and the Austrian looked extremely unhappy with the following corner. Because Lasme stayed away for fear of an own goal, the surprised keeper let the ball drop into the net behind him (58′). However, Pherai should be listed as the goalscorer. With more than half an hour remaining, Braunschweig might be able to do something again, but the effort was definitely there. In the second game on Friday it was only about the home win, Arminia Bielefeld missed a few opportunities to make the result clearer. With the 4:1, the successful home premiere was still perfect for Scherning. Eintracht Braunschweig remains at the bottom of league two after six matchdays.
